About This Game

Space Hulk: Deathwing is a First-Person Shooter experience based on Games Workshop's classic Space Hulk boardgame set in the universe of Warhammer 40,000. Space Hulk: Deathwing was developed on Unreal Engine 4, and offers you and up to three of your friends the chance to experience a desperate battle against Genestealers in the claustrophobic tunnels of a Space Hulk. You also gain skills, new abilities, and new equipment as you earn experience during missions.

Space Hulks drift along the currents of the Warp, the immaterial dimension of Chaos. Made up of gigantic, mangled asteroids, ship wrecks, and other stellar debris, they can grow to the size of a moon, and often contain treasured and ancient lost technologies. They are often also infested with broods of the lethal Genestealer.

In the game you take on the role of a Space Marine from one of the most secret and most feared Space Marine forces: the Deathwing of the Dark Angels Chapter.

As a Librarian, you can also master the destructive powers of the Psykers. Your skills and performance in battle grant you Fervor Points to spend on 3 skill trees, allowing you to improve your abilities and unlock new powers.

Don your Terminator armour and arm yourself with the iconic weaponry of the Space Marines and face the threats that await you in the Space Hulk.

  The fourth update beta is now live for Space Hulk: Deathwing!
  
  Our two main goals with this major patch were to update the version of Unreal Engine 4 used by Space Hulk: Deathwing and add simultaneous loading in multiplayer.
  
  Updating the graphical engine required all the maps to be updated and the lights rebuilt, which took longer than we expected. Simultaneous loading will vastly improve the loading times and synchronized spawns in multiplayer.
  
  Here is the list of features and improvements of the update, based on your feedback since release. They’re primarily for the multiplayer portion of our game:
  

  • More weapons in Multiplayer– this includes the addition of the Heavy Flamer and Hellfire.
    
  • Expanded class loadouts in Multiplayer– each class has more choice of what to bring into battle!
    
  • Improved multiplayer load times – simultaneous loading time for all players.

  This major update affects a wide part of the game. Keep in mind that the build of Space Hulk: Deathwing that you’ll have access to is still in development and not in a finalized state.   Last week's Beta saw tens of thousands of you donning Terminator armour and answering the call to fight Genestealers in the Space Hulk Olethros!
  
  We'd like to thank you once again for having taken the time to post your feedback on our official forum in large numbers, helping us to exterminate a wide range of Heretical bugs.
  
  In order to ensure Space Hulk: Deathwing is in the best state possible for launch, we've taken the decision to delay the launch of the full game to December 14th, 19:00 CET.
  
  While some of you may be disappointed, others have expressed support for allowing time to fix the remaining bugs.
  
  Most of the issues from the Beta have been addressed, including drastic improvement of the loading times, optimisation of the general performances, improvement of certain interface and menu elements, sound-design changes (character voices), and fix of numerous bugs and nearly all occurrences of crashes.
  
  We know you are eagerly waiting to purge Xenos, but we want to ensure all players can enjoy the game optimally on launch by continuing to work on the massive amount of feedback for an extra week.

  A new Xenos threat has risen from the depths of the Space Hulk. Your Deathwing squad must purge this newly discovered strain, which resembles the Ymgarl Genestealers.
  
  These creatures are even more cunning, tough and lethal than regular Genestealers, and their presence on the Space Hulk Olethros remains a mystery. The Psygate, a psychic bridgehead established by the Librarian, enables the Librarian to change equipment and Psychic powers during missions.
  
  
  
  This allows them adapt to various encounters while exploring the Space Hulk. Squad mates’ loadouts can be also be swapped using the same ability. For example, equipping them with shields and war hammers will transform your squad into a particularly strong and hard hitting force. But, of course, with this setup, your companions won’t be able to deal damage from a distance or heal teammates.

  Our first priority after the release was to fix the most urgent technical issues. That's why the main changes of this patch are technical fixes - we updated the graphical engine and rebuilt all the levels.

  Update 5 features a new game mode called Special Missions. Played in the existing maps, players must successfully achieve different objectives randomly chosen.
  
  This new mode is available on the SM_Chapter_01, in the multiplayer lobby menu. It will be available on other maps later.
